How do I deactivate the alarm on my Volvo V40?
The manual is vague about deactivating the alarm, but what I did was: Park as normal and lock all four doors using the key-poked-in-the-slot method. This locks all doors and I can confirm that the alarm doesn’t arm (no blinky red light on dash). However I couldn’t work out how to lock the boot, so what do you think of:

It doesn’t seem clear from your question. You need a good diagnostic scanner, a generic OBDII will not be good enough. You need a scan tool that will communicate with the body and alarm system and give you live data. As you say the alarm is still triggered in reduced mode it points towards the doors, tailgate or bonnet.

The advantage of this is that the contact sensors for the doors and boot should still be active. Though the deadlocks will also be deactivated.
