Is there an alternator for the Volvo V8?
It turns out the alternator on the V8 model is prone to failure. Unfortunately, it looks like this alternator is specifically made for this engine, the Volvo B8444S which is only used in the Volvo S80, XC90, and Noble M600. Production volume is low, so it’s difficult to find a replacement that is reasonably priced.
Can you put a 2003 alternator in a 2005 V8?
You CAN put in a 2003-2004 V8 alternator in a 2005+ V8, however you will get a red triangle warning “POWER SYSTEM SERVICE URGENT” and a battery idiot light because the ECU cannot communicate with the alternator. The alternator will continue to function normally and will charge the battery, but you will still get the warning messages.
Is there 12 volts on the XC90 power system?
No, it is on the alternator, but looks like the smae as for the 2004 and earlier, there is a green and white small wire on the back o the alternator, this is the ground coming from the computer to activate the control module, with the wire connected, is there 12 volts on this wire when running?

Many people say that the 2.5T engine is underpowered, but I feel that its 208hp feels peppy and is perfectly matched to the transmission.
Is the XC90 2.5t a reliable car?
The years 2007+ models with the 3.2 I-6 cylinder engines are also very reliable.
