How long does a temperature sensor last?
Often, the engine coolant temperature sensor must be replaced at about 100,000 miles. If you don’t properly maintain the engine cooling system, the sensor could fail much earlier.
What will happen if thermostat valve remains closed?
If a thermostat was stuck closed, there would be no flow even after the engine reached the operating temperature, and the lower radiator hose would remain cool. Of course, lack of flow through the radiator can be caused by many other reasons besides a stuck-closed thermostat.
How do you know you have a bad temp sensor?
One of the first symptoms associated with a problem with the coolant temperature sensor is poor fuel economy. This will cause the computer to think the engine is cold, even when it is not, and as a result will use more fuel than necessary. This will reduce fuel economy, and may hinder engine performance.
Why is the outside air temperature sensor stuck at 50 degrees?
The temperature reading next to the clock is constantly stuck at 50 degrees. The outside temperature is above 80 degrees so there is definitely a problem. I can’t even figure out where the sensor is located to check for a loose connection.
What happens if your coolant temperature sensor goes bad?
Fuel delivery, ignition timing and engine performance are among the key elements affected by the information the coolant temperature sensor gathers. If it goes bad, it can cause several problems. Signs Your Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Is Bad
Why is the air temp stuck at 28 C?
Today the temperature reading stuck at 28 C (82 F). It’s a really hot day (95 F). I never had this issue before. Yesterday I had to re-flash the tune using COBB Accessport and I guess this somehow resets the whole system (sort of like unplugging the battery).
What happens if the ECT sensor gets damaged?
Like every other component, the ECT sensor can also get damaged resulting in a number of engine-related problems. Hence, it is advised to have your car inspected right away to avoid any serious problem. Here are some of the common symptoms you might face if the ECT gets damaged or becomes faulty.
