P2032 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for “Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor Circuit Low Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 2”. This can happen for multiple reasons and a mechanic needs to diagnose the specific cause for this code to be triggered in your situation.
What does exhaust temperature sensor do?
As its name suggests, the exhaust gas temperature sensor measures the temperature of the exhaust gas. In diesel engines, exhaust gas temperature sensors are also used to monitor the temperature of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) to establish the correct temperature for regeneration, reducing harmful emissions.
What happens when the exhaust temperature is too low?
The DEF injection system is controlled by the PCM. During engine cold start, exhaust temperature should be at or near ambient temperature.
