Why does my engine coolant light keep coming on and off?
The indicator is telling you that the fluid level is below the sensor, however, once you start driving and the engine heats up, the light should go off. If your coolant light stays on even after driving for a few minutes, then it’s time to check your coolant levels and the coolant sensor.
Why is my coolant light always on?
The most common reason for the coolant light to become illuminated is simply that the coolant level is too low. There may be a floating sensor in your coolant tank that triggers the warning light when the level drops. Low coolant levels are usually caused by leaks, either in the reservoir or somewhere in the lines.
Is the low coolant light on or off?
Ive replaced the coolant reservoir w/ new sensor twice now but my low coolant light is still on. The coolant level is fine and im not loosing any coolant. The connection to the sensor looks clean and the wires are fine.
What to do if low coolant indicator turns off?
Engine running, verify the low coolant indicator turns OFF. If the indicator does not turn OFF, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the indicator turns OFF, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. If all circuits test normal, replace the coolant level switch . Overall a great company to work for.
Can a PCM turn off a low coolant light?
Yes. If the light goes out then the switch is bad. If not then you could possibly have an open wire and the pcm isn’t seeing that the switch is closed thus keeping the light on. A multi-meter can tell you if a wire is open. Yes.
