Can flushing your transmission damage it?
Pressure flushing can cause aging seals to start leaking. When it leaks more than a quart it could burn up the unit. Flushing does not cause the transmission to fail but it may speed up the process because it pushed metal particles back through the system.

My 2017 Escape is approach 40K miles and I want to get the transmission fluid changed. Normally this is something I do myself every 30-50K miles on my other vehicles, but without a dipstick I’m going to pass on the Escape.

Explicitly _not_ a flush. Although the fluid cannot be completely drained from this transmission, you can find other threads that say you can only drain out about half of it. So I need to find out exactly what they propose to do – how many cycles of drain+refill.
