Why does my F-150 shift hard?
A transmission that is shifting too hard generally has a problem with its fluid pressure. When that pressure is too high, shift can happen erratically and forcefully.

Look on the right side of the steering column for the white plastic piece with the black wheel on it. There’s a purple wire going up. That black wheel is an adjustment wheel. Simply turn the wheel to move the shift indicator.

I used it today to adjust the indicator on my 2002 F150. I did not need to remove any of the dash panels or the steering column shroud. It was accessible from under the dash. I had to replace the white plastic piece in my 02 F150. I just used one from the E series van, around the 99 year model. It was shaped a little differently, but works great.

I love driving my 2002 Ford f150. I personally love trucks. The look of mine is awesome. I have had very few problems with it even though it is over 10 years old. The way it runs is perfect. The acceleration is a bit poor, but that is expected in a large truck. Sometimes it will shake and vibrate. It is still a really good truck.
