What are the lines on my radiator?
Your transmission cooling lines, often just called the transmission lines, are the lines that connect your transmission to the radiator in your car. They’re made up of a system of rubber hoses and metal or composite aluminum tubes that allow for transmission fluid to flow through them at high temperatures.
Is radiator connected to transmission?
The largest component to your vehicle’s cooling system is the radiator, but did you know that the radiator is also connected to your transmission and in some cases your engine’s oiling system too? Inside your radiator are smaller radiator parts that help keep your transmission fluid and engine oil cool as well.
Can you bypass transmission oil cooler?
Transmission oil coolers can leak into the coolant, too, so be sure that is not the issue. It is possible to bypass the factory cooler in the radiator by blocking off the input/output locations for the transmission cooler on the radiator.
Where are the cooling lines in a car?
Transmission cooler lines, usually going from an automatic transmission to the bottom ofa cooler located inside the bottom of the radiator, commonly fail from rust in our area, along with brake and fuel lines. You may notice drops of transmission fluid under the car or a good sized puddle of it if the line breaks.
Are there transmission lines in a Toyota radiator?
The OP’s Toyota should have rubber transmission lines to connect to the trans cooler in the radiator. At almost 20 yrs, I would go ahead and replace them when you have the fluid serviced. I used to own a 15 yo Buick that had rubber transmission lines that had gotten old, cracked, and seeping.
Why are my transmission cooler lines rusting and rotting?
Already dug through past threads didn’t find to many dealing with this issue. Assume the road treatment stuff they use in my state here in the north east is causing the rusting/rotting of this cooling line. If you look between the radiator and the transmission, you will see two rubber hoses coming from the radiator connected to metal lines.
What to do if your transmission cooling line is leaking?
Do not attempt to drive the car anywhere, have it towed. Repair of the line is fairly easy, just cut out the leaking part and put in a gas and oil proof section of fuel line with hose clamps.
