How do I know if my TV valve is stuck on 700r4?
The gauge tells you the tv valve is sticking,the stuff you see on the dipstick tells you maybe something is not so good. when you pull the pan,then you will know the rest of the story. If the pan has got metal in it,a very little may be alright,but too much means something is very wrong.

On my 700r4 we changed the governor with different ones till we like the shifts point ! TV cable is not meant for shifting point or shift firmness. It is only for appropriate line pressure per the throttle position. If it is not right you have a toasted trans. Has to be right linkage that mimics the same geometry as the stock setup for the engine.
