Why is my transmission light flashing?
Transmission light usually flashes due to overheating. If the fluid is low, it is possible for the transmission to overheat. Depending on how much it overheats, the remaining fluid can be pushed out of the vent tube. Low fluid levels and overheating will cause internal transmission damage.
Do you have to reprogram a rebuilt transmission?
To answer your question you should NOT need to reprogram your computer (PCM/ECU) when you replace your transmission as long as it’s a stock replacement (or stock rebuild).
What are the signs of a bad transmission module?
Some common signs of a bad transmission control module include:
- Unpredictable shifting.
- Trouble shifting into higher gear.
- Trouble downshifting.
- Getting stuck in the same gear.
- Poor fuel economy.
- Check engine light comes on.
Can You reflash a transmission without rebuilding the transmission?
Reflashing new calibrations for the transmission can solve shifting and even wear issues without having to rebuild the transmission. Many OEMs are issuing new calibrations to account for wear to the bands and clutches that they did not see in their initial testing.
How does reflashing work on a powertrain control module?
