Why does my bike die when I put it in first gear?
The most common cause for a motorcycle engine to die when selecting first gear is a faulty side stand switch. If the motorcycle stalls with a jerk when put into gear, it may be due to the clutch plates binding together, a stretched clutch cable, a leaky master cylinder or a poorly tuned engine.

Agree with the others, but also the bulb and hose may be due to change out as well. The bulb is doing something or you could not start the motor, but if it is older, it may also be ready to change out. Do it all at once. Yep, a dirty fuel system would be my guess too.

Yea after the engine warms up is when I have problems. When its cold it starts without any issues. After its warmed up it will cut off, and then I can get it to come back on after a couple tries but as soon as I put it in gear it dies on me.

I have a 01 grand caravan, my p c sensor needs changing. It only cuts off when put in after starting it.I have to start it up,put in reverse then back to Dr ,then its OK.
