This is not what the original poster is referring to. He is referring to hitting the button, it starts to close, and all the sudden it stops and reverses. Kinda like a garage door if it meets an obstruction. Your issue sounds like the fixed stop at the full open position is broken or the door isn’t going back far enough to engage it.
