Which is the best brake fluid for Toyota Gen 4?
Any DOT 3 fluid would work, but in my Gen 4 I find that Toyota fluid has the best feel to it. I’ve tried Prestone DOT 3, DOT 4, and Pentosin DOT 4 and Toyota fluid offers the most consistent and firmest pedal of the ones I have tried. I flushed the system which is why I tried some of the DOT 4 fluid.
Is it OK to use DOT 5 brake fluid?
Just make sure that you don’t use DOT 5, which is a silicone-based fluid that will cause brake failure pretty quickly in a system designed for 3 or 4. If I were topping off the brake fluid, I would consider using the Toyota OEM one, if that is what is in there already.
