Why do my brakes feel choppy?
The choppy sensation you are feeling when applying the brakes is most likely unevenly worn brake pads and/or rotors. When this happens and you then apply the brakes, as the pads clamp down on the rotors the choppy feeling you are getting is the uneven surface grinding against an even surface.
Can brake pads cause shudder?
If your brake discs are unevenly worn the brake pads come in contact with the flat spots present in the rotor’s surface which causes the vibration that we call brake shudder. If a shuddering pulsation is felt through the brake pedal, this usually points towards an issue with the rear brake rotors.
What does it mean when your car has Brake judder?
Brake shudder (also known as brake judder) is the vibration felt through the steering wheel and suspension when the brakes are applied at certain speeds and pressures. It can vary from a barely noticeable vibration to a violent judder – experienced through either the brake pedal or steering wheel.
Why does my car judder when I go up a hill?
When you come down these roads you have to keep the car in a low gear and be prepared for a vehicle coming up the hill, without braking all the time. This constant braking is what overheats the discs and causes them to warp and vibrate giving Brake Juddering through your brake pedal.
What causes the brake pads to come out?
The cause is almost always that the brakes are suffering from DTV: Disc Thickness Variation. DTV means the outside and inside disc surfaces are no longer parallel, so the pads are pushed into the thinner areas and kicked back out by the thicker areas.
What does it mean when your brake rotors Shudder?
Generally, when shudder is felt through the steering wheel this indicates that it’s the front rotors that need to be looked at. If a shuddering pulsation is felt through the brake pedal, this usually points towards an issue with the rear brake rotors. How do we remedy brake shudder?
