What does VSA and ABS mean?
Vehicle stability assist is just what it sounds like. A system that Honda, and every automaker, uses to help you keep the vehicle under your control. The VSA system is also part of the traction control system and helps you get moving in slippery situations. Anti-lock braking and other related systems interact with VSA.
Why do the VSA and ABS lights stay on?
However, even after boosting the battery (we carry a portable booster just for such occasions) and getting the vehicle started, the ABS and VSA dash lights remain illuminated indicating a fault. In this instance, clearly the “fault” is some anomaly caused by the low battery voltage.
Can a Honda door open with the VSA light on?
If you turn the power door slide switch to OFF (see photo right), it is possible to manually open the door while the engine is running even with the ABS/VSA light illuminated. Note that the door will still close electrically with the engine running as long as the slide switch is ON.
