What would cause vibration in steering wheel when braking?

If your steering wheel shakes a lot while you’re braking, that could mean that your rotors are out of round. In other words, the rotors have started to wear out, lose their shape, and become warped. Even if you just got new brakes installed, vibrations while braking is a sign of a serious problem.

What can cause steering vibration?

Here are the most common causes of steering wheel vibration:

  1. The wheels are not balanced. When a new tyre is placed on your wheel rim, the technician has to make sure that the weight is evenly distributed across the wheel.
  2. The wheels are misaligned.
  3. Wheel hub bearings issues.
  4. Suspension issues.
  5. Braking system issues.

Is the Highlander base 2WD vibrating while driving?

I just bought an 2008 Highlander Base 2WD yesterday and have noticed a vibration while driving during certain instances. Unfortunately it is not constant and I haven’t been able to make it happen on purpose.

When does a Toyota Highlander start to vibrate?

Usually it is when accelerating but most often at 50 mph +. . It ALSO started vibrating ( sporadically) on START UP in the mornings, (after a week of ownership). This vibration is more pronounced than the one during movement– it is a dull humming vibration as soon as you turn the key. I don’t even put my foot on the accelerator.

What was the problem with my Highlander in 2005?

In 2005 I test drove a Highlander and the lag was very noticeable. For that reason, I did not get a Highlander. Instead went to a Pacifica. So far no acceleration lag in the 08 Highlander but there are some other handling issues that are disappointing compared to the Pacifica. Did you ever find out what was wrong with your Highlander?

Why does my car vibrate when I accelerate?

When it does happen, it occurs a second or two after I accelerate and take my foot off the pedal (when I’m not pushing the gas or slowing down). It’s like the car is deciding which gear to be in…the whole thing just vibrates for 2-3 seconds. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is it an easy fix or did I get a lemon? Thanks in advance!
