Can a knocking motor be rebuilt?
It won’t cure itself once the rod knock occurs. You don’t usually replace just one rod bearing as the entire engine would need rebuilt at that point, or the engine will need to be replaced.
Why do I hear a knocking sound when I turn my steering wheel?
If you hear a knocking sound when turning the steering wheel in your car, it could be because you have old tie rods that have begun to go bad. Similar to a bad power steering rack, bad tie rods are typically going to give you the most trouble when you’re turning your car at low speeds.
What’s the knocking sound coming from the back of the car?
At first it was very faint and you could only hear it when the windows were up and silence in the car, but now the noise is EXTREMELY loud and even when you sit in the back seat as a passenger you can feel it knocking under your feet on both sides.
Why does my car make a rattling noise when it starts up?
It doesn’t do it when cranking, it’s only when the car first starts up (more noticeable on cold start-up). It’s also not every time you start it, only when it’s been sitting awhile (such as over night). I’m not exactly sure what it is but it’s pretty loud. After about 10-15 seconds or so, the sound settles and is no longer audible.
Why is my car making a loud squealing noise?
Sometimes a car makes a loud noise on acceleration or you might find your car making squealing noises when you start it. Some of these noises are minor repairs while others have the potential to ruin your budgeting for the year. Or in worst case scenarios, your car could degrade into a state where insurance declares your car a total loss.
What does knocking noise at start up mean?
Noise did not occur after sitting overnight. Noise duration is too short to track down. Noise is closer to a light tapping, definitely not a heavy thump. Similar to an exhaust manifold leak, but not as loud. Noise does not happen every time. More likely to occur after the truck has been sitting a few days. Ed B. cigroller July 6, 2016, 2:18am #7
