Do you hear noises when you turn the steering wheel? These could be sounds like clicking, squeaking, or clunking when you turn. The reason for these sounds is due to bad internal components within the steering column.
How do you check steering wheel position sensor?
To test the SAS, you have to back probe a connector that is typically under the steering column. As the steering wheel is turned 360 degrees, the SAS produces a signal that toggles between 0 and 5 volts. As the wheel is turned lock-to-lock, the voltage will reach 5 volts three times and 0 volts three times.

How are the four wheels aligned on an electric steering system?
To steer correctly, all four wheels must be aligned in relationship to the thrust centerline of the vehicle. The steering gear is then aligned to the thrust centerline by adjusting individual toe angles on the front wheels. Since many electric steering systems aren’t field serviceable, they are usually replaced as a unit.
Where is the power steering control module located?
In another configuration, the EPS assembly is inserted between the steering wheel and the steering rack (see photo above). No matter what the configuration, the power steering control module receives inputs from a steering position sensor and a steering torque sensor that is mounted on the steering rack input shaft.
Why is my Mercedes Benz steering wheel stuck?
The most common failure is the steering wheel gets stuck and will no longer move up or down but still moves in and out. In some cases, the steering wheel may move up but not down.
