What RPM should a th350 shift?
3000-3500 rpm is a low shift point for performance use, but about common for stock.
Can a dirty throttle body cause shifting problems?
The Throttle Position sensor measures the throttle position, which is controlled by the gas pedal. It is used to determine engine load and if it fails it can cause automatic transmission shifting problems. When a throttle body is not functioning correctly, some noticeable characteristics may be poor or very low idle.
Why does my transmission shift at high rpm?
Automatic transmissions are designed to shift at different RPMs based on the amount of throttle you input. If you are accelerating quickly (with the pedal to the floor) the transmission will shift at a higher RPM than under normal driving.
How does a TH350 shift?
Re: How does the stock TH350 know when to shift? Up shifts occur when governer pressure rises. Down shifts occur via your detent cable. The vacuum modulator delays an upshift or forces a downshift.
How do you adjust shift points on a Turbo 350?
Guest. Get a small flat head screwdriver,go to the passenger side of the transmission. Unhook the vacuum line on the modulator and screw the adjustment screw inwards in 2 turn increments. Screwing it all the way in will give you very hard shifts and will feel very uncomfortable when it shifts at higher speeds.
Is a TH350 stronger than a 700r4?
According to the big trans guys they are actually stronger than the 700; smaller, lighter, and a better 1st gear ratio. I have had a mildly built 200-4R behind a 462 in a 4000# car for over 10 years with no issues.
Why does my Turbo 350 Trans not shift?
It has plenty of fluid. It has vacuum to the hose to the vacuum modulator. That vacuum hose is brand new so not cracked or anything. It does reverse and 1st fine. When you drive it, it goes through 1st, then it doesn’t shift. If you let off the gas at that point, it the rpm’s will drop but the car is just coasting.
What does it mean when your transmission is not shifting?
Q: transmission not shifting and the rpm’s keep climbing up. the transmission is not shifting properly, replaced both input and output speed sensors, but the rpms seem to be climbing high and the transmission does not seem to be shifting, gets up to speed fine, but the rpms just keep climbing on it… My car has 200000 miles.
What happens when you let off the gas on a 350 Trans?
When you drive it, it goes through 1st, then it doesn’t shift. If you let off the gas at that point, it the rpm’s will drop but the car is just coasting. You can give it gas and it will rev back to where it starts pulling in 1st again, but never upshifts.
