The 5SFE is an extremely reliable engine. The causes of most problems seem to be; running out of oil and overheating (due to lack of maintenance) and extreme hot rodding. if the car is for free, i’d take it. Used 5sfes are for 500-750 at junkyards. Install will be close to 500-700 more. 5sfe are IMO the most reliable toyota engine ever.
