Why are my brakes hard all of a sudden?
Vacuum – or really lack of vacuum pressure – is the most common cause of a hard brake pedal, and therefore the first thing to look at when a hard pedal is present. Any brake booster (whether from Master Power or any other supplier) needs a vacuum source to operate.
Why does my brake pedal touch the floor?
One of the most common reasons for your brakes touching the floor would be an issue with your brake fluid. Your fluid being low or air reaching the brake line will prevent the fluid from flowing properly, resulting in a spongy pedal. A bad brake booster is another common cause for a malfunctioning pedal.
What causes a spongy brake pedal and how do you diagnose this and solve the fault?
Air in the brake line(s) is the most common cause of a soft/spongy brake pedal. If air gets into the brake lines, it can prevent brake fluid from flowing properly, causing the brake pedal to feel spongy or soft. If the brakes are soft or spongy, this is a good time to change or flush the brake fluid.
What are the same issues with my 2002 4Runner?
Same issues with my 2002 4runner. Ricky, can you be more specific about the parts that need to be changed? You mention replacing a “motor under brake fluid or computer next to e brake under dash”. I’m trying to order whatever is needed online since we live/work overseas. Thanks in advance. 11 people found this helpful.
What kind of brake pedal does a Toyota 4Runner have?
I have a 2006 4Runner SR5, when my husband accidentally drained the transmission fluid when changing the oil (oops! Apparently a common issue with the arrangement of the undercarriage) 6 years ago I took it to a Toyota dealership because they were the only ones who could replace the transmission fluid and they replaced….my brake pedal?
Why is the emergency brake light on on my 4Runner?
My 4runner hit just over 200,000 miles. Then all the sudden I heard beeping, the dash light up with all the warming light, then about 2 minutes later, the engine stopped. I had it in the shop for a full inspection and fixes a few months ago so I’m not sure what could cause that. 5 people found this helpful.

If Im not mistaken, that is what it was and that was because there was a recall on it.
