Can check engine light cause car not to start?

In most cases, when it stops starting all of the sudden, it’s due to an ignition system sensor or component, like a crankshaft position or cam sensor that has broken; or the electrical harness that has been damaged. It could also be that the fuel pump itself has been damaged.

So, the most likely cause, is that the fuel injectors are probably not opening. How can I tell if my car is not getting fuel?
Usually, you figure out if you have a fuel delivery problem by process of elimination. If you have good spark and clean air, you’re probably not getting fuel. Some folks like using starter fluid as a check.
