Why does my AC compressor not engage?
One of the reasons why compressors do not engage is because of a low pressure lockout, a poor ground, a bad clutch coil, an opening in the wire to the clutch coil, or simply a blown fuse. There are several ways A/C compressor clutches receive power.
How does a low pressure switch work?
A low-pressure switch is connected to the suction, or “low” side of the system to sense suction pressure. When the pressure in the system exceeds the high pressure switch setting, the switch will open circuit the compressor clutch and the compressor will stop circulating refrigerant.
When did my Subaru Forester compressor give up?
My AC compressor decided to finally give up. I purchased the vehicle in October of 2018 with 78k at which time clutch made a whining noise when engaged and the AC was working fine. The other day it was warm enough that I thought to turn on the AC to no avail. It blew warm air and whats more the clutch was no longer engaging.

Why does my Subaru Forester have no AC?
In troubleshooting I determined that the fuses and relay were fine. However, at the relay l could measure the 14.24V on one terminal and nothing on the other three terminals regardless if i turn on the AC or not. Swapping relays made no difference. At any rate I jumpered the coil to mimick the relay being engaged and the AC clutch engaged.
When did the 2017 Forester air conditioner stop working?
Last year the Air Conditioner stopped working on the 2017 forester at ~10K miles and almost 1 year old. No cool air at all. Dealership replaced the condenser. Now, about a year later it is broken again! I know there is a TSB out there for AC issues, but should it really be an annual thing?
