What causes the VTEC solenoid to be dead?
If the oil level is OK, then VTEC solenoid is dead. Improper oil weight or infrequent oil change can do that. Or it just died on its own. Low oil sends the engine into the “limp mode” no VTEC actuation at all. Your check engine light should have come on as well as the low oil light.
What’s the RPM limit on a VTEC solenoid?
It may say that it is the VTEC solenoid. If you are unsure what weight of oil speedy lube put it, change it your self with 5W-20 and see if the 5000 RPM limit goes away. By the way, are you checking the 5000 RPM rev limit in Neutral? There is program in the computer not to let the engine rev past 5000 RPM when in neutral or at stand still.
What causes the VTEC to go into limp mode?
Low oil sends the engine into the “limp mode” no VTEC actuation at all. Your check engine light should have come on as well as the low oil light. Infrequent oil changes, improper oil weight, or improper filter will affect the VTEC solenoid operation as well.
What does low oil do to your VTEC?
Low oil sends the engine into the “limp mode” no VTEC actuation at all. Your check engine light should have come on as well as the low oil light. Infrequent oil changes, improper oil weight, or improper filter will affect the VTEC solenoid operation as well. VTEC is actuated by oil, if the viscosity is not right, it will not live long. Good luck.
Do you cut the solenoid wire on a VTEC pressure switch?
Do not cut the VTEC solenoid wire, simply connect the Vtec pressure switch wire to it. That’s it, your ECU will now be fooled into thinking that it has a VTEC pressure switch and VTEC will now function. Enjoy!
Where is the VTEC oil pressure switch wire?
On your engine harness, locate the VTEC oil pressure switch plug/wire (this wire comes from OBD1 ECU pin D6). Use a common T-tap or other method and simply tap this into the VTEC solenoid valve wire (the VTEC solenoid wire comes from OBD1 ECU pin A4). Do not cut the VTEC solenoid wire, simply connect the Vtec pressure switch wire to it.
Why do I get power cut out at 3k rpm?
Removed VTC Filter assembly, screen was torn from o-ring, replace filter assembly. Oil and Filter were changed about 200 miles ago. If I reset the Errors and drive the car, as soon as I get close to 3K RPMS, the engine looses all power and error returns, engine is cold or warm.
Where is the VTC oil control valve located?
The VTC Oil Control valve on the passenger side of the block right behind the belt tensioner.
