Doesn’t Starlink have hundreds of satellites? Yes, there are hundreds of them. Many are in groups of 30-40 satellites, and fly in a “chain” formation. So this app tracks only the first satellite in every “chain” of satellites. That way, when you see the first satellite in a chain, the rest will follow behind in that chain.

When do I need to update my Starlink maps?
You can update the maps at anytime if you connect the vehicle to Wi-Fi (outlined in Starlink manual). The Starlink software can be updated and instructions are provided in the manual but it also states that it is something that should only be done by the dealer. So that contradiction will keep me from doing that for the time being.

I have seen now two updates released during 6 months ownership time. First in December 2019 and then June 2020. Remember that map updates are provided by TomTom and after that Subaru can provide updates to their customers. Personally I prefer to use online maps, e.g. Google Maps, to make sure that I have very latest updates available.
