Can you put snow cables on a Subaru?
Should I use snow chains on my Subaru? The simple answer: no. Due to Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, adding snow chains to your tires is not necessary, nor recommended. Many of Subaru’s vehicle manuals explicitly state that snow chains are not recommended.

The best scenario in my opinion is a set of stud less snow/ice tires followed up with a set of tire chains in the cargo area as a backup if your Subaru will allow for chains, (you need to reference your owners manual for that information) and not all Subaru’s will accept a set of chains.
Do You need chains on a Subaru AWD?
In the US its kind of just window dressing in my opinion, as for example when you really dive into the rules, in Washington state, chains required is mostly except for AWD cars and trucks like Subaru and even then just means they are in the cargo area and not on the tires if the tires have the Mud and Snow rating.
