- Press the button located directly under the emblem of the trunk, in the center. The Trunk will OPEN.
- To CLOSE it, press the image of the opened trunk located on the inside of the trunk door at the bottom.

With a 2018 Outback the trunk opened after pressing the latch and holding for 10s. After that, manually raise the gate all the way open to the top, then manually close again. After that everything was back to normal.
