Is the Briggs Sparkplug the same as the rj2yle?
Yes. Had the same exact issue. Bought the mower in June. Started having issues in July. Finally replaced the plug. Had a heck of a time finding a replacement plug. No one could find the RJ2YLE in the computer. Seriously… ? At last. 200 views and someone else has the same problem. I no longer feel alone lol. Re: The new Briggs sparkplug.
Can a champion sparkplug be used on a Briggs engine?

Are there any Champion spark plugs for Craftsman lawn mowers?
A series of Craftsman lawn mowers with Briggs & Stratton engines came with a Champion RJ2YXLE spark plug installed. But Champion never released RJ2YXLE to the market, and neither Sears nor Briggs & Stratton ever carried the plug as a replacement. Therefore, RJ2YXLE was essentially discontinued the moment it was manufactured.
