Is it necessary to replace the hood latch?
Would it be “necessary” having to replace your hood latch if your hood won’t shut properly even though you hear clicking that it is closed, after a bad tire blow out and Mississippi mechanics stated: “Latch half broken?” I am not knowledgeable about cars and advice would great be appreciated since going to Toyota for hood latch estimated $300+.
Why is the hood not fully shut on my ttora?
If there was a broken connection or if the wire was broken but the spring on the actual mechanism is still intact and working then the latch would default to the closed position not the open position wouldn’t it? I’m assuming that the spring on the actual latch is what keeps tension on the cable and handle in the cab?

What do I do if my Hood cable has come off?
If the cable has come adrift at the handle inside the passenger compartment, you may be able to reattach it. Or, perhaps you can grab the cable with a pair of pliers and yank on it to open the hood. Then you’ll be able to access the other end of the cable and replace it.
