Why does my 2000 Ford Ranger not start?

2000 Ford Ranger (3.0 l V6) will not start. Turn key over and nothing happens. I have replaced the starter and the ignition switch. Problem is usually intermittent, although it will not start right now. The starter will crank if I jump the start signal from the battery to the starter, but the truck will not start.
