When do I need to calibrate my Park Assist Sensor?

How does Park Assist work on a car?
Park Assist comes on the screen too stating “disabled” at every start, even if I turn it on after starting. The doors do not auto unlock when putting into park and you know that little digital dash underneath each letter that tells you which gear you are in, that is no longer there.
