Osbornk, a key lock would be great when the battery dies. When the battery dies, you can unlock the driver’s door but you cannot do anything with the tailgate except the panel access as described above.

If you park the car in a garage, the solution is simple. Get a small maintenance charger from Walmart or an auto parts store. Put the battery on the charger at night. I do this on my wifes car after she retired. On the flip side of the coin it may be the battery is bad.

Why does my Honda CRV alarm keep going off?
The alarm on my Honda CRV keeps going off whenever I try to lock the car. It started after my battery went flat yesterday (left lights on) and breakdown came and jump started. I drove for around 1/2 hr to recharge battery, went home and tried to lock car in usual way with key fob. Alarm sounded. Everything I have tried has had no effect.

So whereas in the Civic you can open the trunk from the shelf behind the rear seat, in our CR-V you have to unload or reshuffle the entire cargo area to hopefully get back to the access panel. The car starts normally with the fuse removed. I replaced the fuse and the drain returned to 67mA , I then removed the power to the stereo and this made no difference to the drain. The car is standard with no add ons, everything is OEM on it and there is no tow bar. What is the normal drain on the battery ?
Why does my Honda CRV battery keep going dead?
Installed the Group 51 battery 2 months ago and it is already wanting to go dead. Starter, alternator, battery cables, and engine wiring harness were all replaced in the past year by the PO (done at the Honda dealer), who apparently was having the same problem. Why does my Honda CRV go into sleep mode?
It could be the multiplex is awakened when you re-insert the fuse, so it looks like the draw is going up, but if you don’t sit there and watch the amperage, you’re not giving it time to go into sleep mode… just a thought. You should be able to watch the amperage go back down after 20 secs.
