34 satisfied customers Renault Kangoo: stop light and battery light came on in my stop light and battery light came on in my 02 1.2 petrol kangoo. ran for a 1 day then battery died. Replaced battery and the stop light and battery light still on. Is this Alternator problem?
Why is the battery light not working on my Renault?
No point in changing the alternator if the fault lies elsewhere. Most decent battery suppliers will carry out both checks for free in the hope of gaining a sale. Could also be the regulator/brush block unit on the end of the alternator. Happened to me.

What does a red battery light mean on a Renault?
. The red warning light shows that the battery is not receiving any charge. You should check that its not just the aux drive belt that has failed before you invest in a new alternator. If the alternator is at fault I’d change the belt at the same time as the old one has to be removed to fit anyway.
