Why does my Renault Clio 2 not start?
I have a facelift clio (1998-2001) and when i turn the key it just ticks over but wont fire up….i know its a vague question, but any ideas what it could be? I’m not gettin any new warning lights on the dash or anything, and I know nothing about engines.

If you turn the key to the “Start” position, but the engine won’t crank; all you hear is a single click or repeated clicking coming from the engine compartment. Very often this could be caused by a low battery or poor connection between the battery and starter.

Normal procedure is put key in light stays solid red when you turn ignition on ( dash lights on ) the imobiliser light will go out after approx 3 seconds. Is the engine turning over when the fault occurs ?

Check coilpack connection. Will. Oh Missread. I had this problem just last week. Turned out it was the battery. The car wont start or turn over but the radio will reset and ask for the security code. New battery in, problem solved. Ben.. try jumping it from another car, still no luck? where is a the starter motor?
