What kind of oil to put in a Gamefisher outboard?

What kind of oil to put in a Gamefisher outboard?

the “air cooled” oil is ok. it says air cooled because air cooled engines require superior lubricant because they run hotter. id run it in the short term. 50:1 is the correct mix ratio for that OB which is about 2.5oz oil per gallon of gas. 50:1 is probably the right mixture BUT it would help to know what year motor you have.

When did the Gamefisher 15HP outboard come out?

The motor we will be dealing with here is a Gamefisher 15hp outboard sold by Sears Roebuck & Co. Model 225.587151 made between 1984 and 1987. This particular motor has a low serial number (in the 1500 range), so was probably made in 85, however the carb has a date of 11-86 on it, so maybe they didn’t sell as many as I would expect.

What is the Fuel/Oil mixture for my (Johnson or Evinrude) motor? Please note that some Johnson and Evinrude Owners Manuals mention 100:1 mixture ratio after the motor is completely broken in, but most experts suggest against doing that. Stick with 50:1 for the 1964 and newer motors.

Can a 7.5HP engine use a 50 / 1 mixture?

In years past OMC issued a bulletin that all their engines could use the 50/1 mixture, excepting the 1957 7.5hp model, and many boaters were using that 50/1 mixture in all the older models regardless of horsepower. I lost track of that bulletin unfortunately and if anyone has it, I’d appreciate having a copy of it.
