Why is the fuel pump on my Porsche not working?
The fuel pressure will drop abruptly which indicates that the fuel pumps below the rear seat are beginning to fail. The fuel pump on a Porsche 911 is working, but why isn’t fuel reaching the injectors? It sounds very much like insufficient pressure being delivered by the fuel pump in the tank.

The fuel pump feeds fuel to the engine at a reliable rate; without this pump, your fuel would just sit in your tank, useless and inert. If you’re attentive, you can catch the symptoms of a failing fuel pump and have it repaired or replaced before it leaves you stranded on the side of the road.

The part number for these bolts is N-910-260-03. They are about a buck a piece and you’ll need seven of them. When re-installing the bolts, torque them to 20 Nm (15 ft/lbs.). Once the bolts are removed, remove the bracket and clean off any accumulated dog hair or crumbs.

Also undo the cable tie (yellow arrow) holding the fuel lines together. Once the lines are removed, grab the fuel pump casing (blue arrow) and rotate it about 90 degrees counter-clockwise. This will release the fuel pump from the tank. Carefully pull the fuel pump up and out of the tank. Be prepared for some fuel to spill out.
