you can get an intake from GM to put a carb on it (expensive), and any old HEI distributor will fit. you can either just leave the stock optispark unit on the front of the engine, or make a blockoff plate for it. you will need an electric fuel pump, and the LT1 accessory mounting brackets.
Is the LT4 a CARB or crate motor?
GM used to sell the LT4 as a crate motor with a carb intake and ZZ4 HEI distributor included. they put one of those engines in a Chevelle in Chevy High Performance a few years back. 1971 Nova (looks like 69 camaro from underneath!) Is it better to use a carb intake on an LS engine?
You might even find it makes more power with a quality carb intake than with the EFI. I know there is power to be made on an LS engine by trashing the EFI intake and going with a carb intake. I just don’t know how good the EFI intake is on the LT1.

All LT1 engines use center bolt valve covers. LT SERIES GEN II INTAKE MANIFOLDS There are 3 different LT1 intake manifolds, 92-93 LT1, 94-97 LT1 and 96 LT4. The 94-97 LT1 and LT4 intake manifolds appear the same from above, all LT4 intakes are powder coated red from factory, but the difference is in the intake ports.
