What is used to turn an electric engine cooling fan on and off?
Electric fans often are mounted behind the radiator, and sometimes in the front. Depending on the manufacturer, some vehicles use a temperature switch to turn the fan on and off, or with commands from the engine computer and coolant sensor, or a control module to run the fan.
Why are the fans not running in my Pontiac?
your issue is with the temp switch not the temp sensor. the sensor will only operate the fans when it fails to avoid a possible overheating issue ,where as the switch is the fans main controller via ecm. the switch should be on the radiator itself or near the water pump. Hi, thanks for the answer.
