What does the ABS light mean on a peugeot 206?
Just a query to see if any of you have seen this fault. ABS warning light illuminates at key on, the ABS system does not appear to do a self check, therefore the ABS light does not extinguish and then immediately illuminate to indicate a fault. The ABS light illuminates constantly.

Nope. ABS works on all wheels only now, it now incorporates electronic brake distrubtion units which spread the load of the braking to the most gripped wheels to allow stronger braking and shorter stopping distances. If you have drums you will not have ABS.

Continuing to drive your car should not be a problem if you take it easy, unless the engine starts to missfire, in which case damage can occur to the catalytic converter. Edit: I should have said, if the warning light comes on only after you start moving, then it’s a good indication that all is ok with the ABS ECU and the supply wiring to the sensors, as it can’t tell if there is a problem picking up pulses from the gear tooth sensors until it is expecting some pulses.
