Bought the car sight unseen since Hybrids are in short supply (and having never owned a Honda before). Much roomier than I had expected and fit/finish of interior and exterior are phenomenal!

Based on these postings, it appears that there is an early trend to indicate 2003 HONDA Hybrid transmission problem/concern. I agree that using all publicity to pressure Honda is appropriate. Like you, I purchased the vehicle through my loyalty to Honda and a desire to save on gas mileage but the expenses are mounting!
How did the Honda Civic Hybrid battery die?
It died after it swallowed a valve resulting in a hole in number 4 piston. Gas mileage started out great but seemed to get worse over time. Still it was better than most cars on gas mileage. Battery lasted for the 12 years we had the car. Only wiper motor failed. Had to replace head lights every year. Car ran smooth even at high speeds.
