Where is the knock sensor on a Nissan?

Nissan uses the same knock sensor on the V-6 engines and the two varieties of four-cylinder engines mentioned here. Surprisingly even the four-cylinder repair procedure isn’t that easy, because of the buried location of the part. On the 2 L and 2.4 L engines, they install the knock sensor on the block in between the firewall and the engine.

Can a faulty knock sensor cause a check engine light to come on?

The faulty knock sensor will not cause the Check Engine light to come on nor will it cause the driveability symptoms you describe. The cost for knock sensor replacement is that high because it involves removing the upper and lower intake manifolds for access.

Can a speed sensor be replaced with a knock sensor?

It was pulling two codes the speed sensor on the transmission PO500 – and the knock sensor code was coming up along with that. I had the speed sensor replaced twice and checked the wiring.

What does the code on the knock sensor mean?

The code stands for knock sensor bank one sensor one circuit input high. Many would like to ignore this code, but ultimately it can stop you from passing state inspection. Besides that, the knock sensor is really an important sensor for getting the maximum power and fuel economy out of your engine.

What causes a shorted knock sensor on a Nissan?

But I can say that the scenario for a shorted knock sensor (a common failure on Nissan V-6 engines) to cause a fault code P0500 for a Vehicle Speed Sensor would involve a rodent eating wire insulation off of your engine harness causing some crossed wires. Or some other strange thing.

Is there a bad knock sensor on my computer?

Perhaps you could report the specific code. Note that NONE of these say “bad knock sensor” – the computer is clueless about the actual condition of the sensor itself. Its just a box of wires hooked by wires to other wires. That’s about it. I doubt your symptoms are from that though. You should troubleshoot the speed sensor code.
