What happens if your brake lights stay on?
If your brake lights are staying on, it will drain your battery. You need to disconnect your battery while the car is off or until you resolve this issue.
Why does my battery light up after jump start?
Its job is NOT to charge a discharged battery. And, the battery will never attain a proper full charge from the alternator. The battery may read 12.xx volts, but the deep cycle capacity will remain low until you properly charge the battery with a proper battery charger. ^^^This ! Great post.
What should the battery voltage be after a jump start?
If you didn’t charge it offline you may want to get it back too 100%. 12.73 is higher than a normal 12.6V but the jump may have put a slight surface charge on the battery. Turn your lights on for a minute or so to drain the surface charge off then read the battery voltage again with the lights off, engine not running.
What are the lights on the dashboard after a jump start?
After getting a jump, I now see the following lights on the dashboard: vehicle stability assist, electric power steering, low tire pressure, ABS, and brake light are all on. I tried turning the car off and on a couple of times with no change. The battery is sitting at 12.73v (I’m not sure what’s normal).
