Why is the battery on my Nissan Club Dead?

What can cause a car battery to be drained?
For example, mounted gps, phone car chargers, or anything of that sort. 3 years ago I had a brand new battery drained within 6 months while keeping a usb charger plugged in. Once I learned that was probably the cause never had the problem since.
