What kind of lubricant to use on Rotax spark plugs?
(I haven’t found any advice direct from Rotax but BRP owns Rotax and the BRP manual seems pretty complete for engine maintenance.) As you can see from the exerpts below, BRP recommend using anti-seize lubricant while NGK recommend against any lubricant.
What to do if your spark plug has oil on it?
In this case an easy, but a temporary fix is to install aspark plug anti-fouler. This device spaces the spark plug far enough out of the combustion chamber that it won’t get covered by so much oil. If you suspect this a compression test of your engine can help you find out which cylinder has a bad ring and how bad it is.
When to use lubricant or not when installing spark plug?
Apparently there is one, and it involves measuring not the torque, but the angle at which you turn the plug when you insert it. Basically, when you make a 1/2 turn (or a 1/4 turn, or a full turn), you always put the plug deeper into the head this many millimeters, regardless whether you use the lube or not.
What should I put around the plug for spark plugs?
If your worried about the salt water affecting the threads (would be fine assuming it’s correctly tightened) put some petroleom jelly around the plug on the outside to create an external barrier like you would place it over clean electical connections. Hope this helps you.

Can a spark plug be covered in oil?
This is bad for both the ignition coils and spark plugs as it can cause misfires, and it can also cause these parts to fail. If your whole spark plug is covered in oil, you should definitely replace the valve cover gasket and the O-rings around the spark plugs.
Is it OK to use Lube on spark plugs?
This will put additional pressure onto both the plug seat and the head. That’s what NGK means by saying that torque charts get inaccurate when using lube. Therefore, if you decide to use the lube on spark plugs, never tighten them to the spec. Reduce that number by 20-30%.
When to replace a spark plug at Jiffy Lube?
Spark plug replacement is recommended based on your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation. Jiffy Lube® recommends following manufacturer recommendations, where applicable, for maintenance schedules and service intervals. Not all services are offered at each Jiffy Lube® location.
