Why are my lights working but not sockets?
The circuit breaker and/or the RCD may have tripped (turned off) due to a faulty appliance that has been plugged into a socket. If you are not sure which appliance has caused the problem, you can do one more thing: unplug all appliances, reset the circuit breaker and/or RCD by switching back on.
Why is my Fuse not working in the kitchen?
sockets are not working except in the kitchen. the RCD has not tripped and fuse looks ok. What could the problem be? Loose connection somewhere most likely. This needs investigation. If the working sockets are on the same final circuit as the sockets that do not work then you almost certainly have a loose connection at a socket or junction box.
Can a defective power socket cause a cigarette lighter to not work?
If you were able to rule out both factors as the cause of the defect, the lighter socket itself may be defective. However, this happens relatively rarely and should therefore be checked in a specialist workshop before you buy a new socket. If the socket is defective, you only have to replace it.
What causes no power to an outlet breaker?
1 Check the fuse connection of that particular room. 2 Another possible cause of having no power in the outlet is the internal switch of GFCI. 3 If it’s GFCI that has cut off the current flow by saving your circuit breaker and the rest of the home wiring then look for any ground faults inside that
Why is my Fuse dead but my circuit breaker is not tripped?
However, in some cases the breaker or fuse may seem fine, and even if you reset the circuit breaker the circuit is still dead. In those cases the culprit might be a GFCI outlet that has tripped.
What to do if there is no power in a socket?
I come across a similar situation before, tested final ring continuity and all was good but still fault at socket of no power. Upon further investigation i found the socket i thought was on the ring was actualy on it’s own ring in parallel to the main ring circuit via a jumble of JB’s under the floor boards.
Is the power to garage, fuses OK?
Have a fuse box in garage (old style wire fuse) one for sockets and one for light but both are ok and the unit hadnt tripped. Went into house to check the fuses but i actually have no fuse for the garage in the main unit and everything is working ok anyway in the house. Does the power to garage have to be coming from in my house somewhere?
