How to test a relay out of a car?
We will be testing the relay out of the car with a battery, jumper wires, and a power probe. I will show you how to test a 3 4 and 5 pin relay. Ground your test light and TOUCH 87 to see light come on.
How do you test for intermitted relay failure?
Step 1 – To test for intermitted relay failures which are common, remove the relay in question, take a small wire strand, about two inches long and insert it into the relay connector terminal 87 or 30. Step 2 – Next, reinstall the relay while keeping the wire strand inserted and clear of any other terminals or metal (ground).
How to read the control circuit on a relay?
Read the relay connections printed on the relay. The control circuit will be depicted as a coil of wire on the surface printing of the relay. The load circuit will be depicted as straight lines with a dot or circle on the end of one of the lines.
What happens when a running light switch fails?

How do you test a car relay with no power?
If there is no power, the electrical system must be tested starting with the fuse then the relay. If power is present use the test light connected to battery power to check the ground circuit. if these tests check out, the accessory is bad and needs to be replaced.
What should I do if my relay goes bad?
Step 7 – The relay is mounted in four electrical terminals housed in plastic and when overheated (due to overload or resistance caused by a poor connection) can distort and melt. Step 8 – Use as small metal scribe or tool to scrape clean any corrosion to ensure a good connection once the new relay is installed.
What to do when your running light is not working?
If no power is confirmed, repair the fuse holder or the power feed (maxifuse – fusible) from the fuse panel to the switch. If power is confirmed at the rear of the switch, turn the switch to the “ON” position and test the remaining terminals (or wires), power should be present at the remaining terminals. Learn More
