What does code 31 mean on Nissan D21?
Code 31 is coming up as the load signal malfunction. This is the signal that comes from the a/c compressor or alternator or steering pump when the engine is under additional load. It allows the computer to see the load and adjust idle speed higher to compensate.
Why does my Nissan D21 hit 2500 rpm?
The fact that it hits a 2500 rpm rev limit is odd but we can try to fix the idle first and then come back to that. On the idle control valve when you turn the screw to the left it allows more air into the engine at idle which will lean out the mixture. When you turn it to the right less air enters and richens the mixture.
