Is the tail light on a Nissan Patrol working?
Head lights (low and high beam) Brake lights, reverse lights and indicators all work fine it is only the tail and dash lights. I have checked the tail light connections and traced the wiring back to wire it enters the cab on the passenger side under the seat all looks good.
Why are my head and tail lights not working?
THE ONES ON THE SIDE FENDERS THAT BLINK WHEN YOUR TURN SIGNAL IS ON. IF YOU DONT HAVE ANYTHING COVERING YOUR TIRE WELDS THEN DISCONNECT YOUR CORNER LIGHTS AND PUT A NEW FUSE IN AND SEE IF YOUR LIGHTS COME ON. I have a 95 nissan pathfinder my head lights and tail lights stay on. I have no brake lights and no dash board lights.

Check each and every bulbs. Once you find one that is bad, replace it. The lighting circuit is connected – the dash lights went out because that’s part of the system which Nissan designed to warn you “hey buddy, you don’t have parking lights” – much easier than having to turn on your parking lights & running around the car each time.

Where are the lights on the dashboard located?
Most vehicles have a dashboard lights control switch that will dim the dashboard lights, as well as turn them off. Check the control switch, which should be located on the console near the steering column or part of the headlight switch. Tail lights and dash lights are connected through the tail light (and/or brake light) fuse.
How can I tell if my tail lights have a fuse?
When you have located the fuse for the tail lights use a fuse tester to check the connection. If the tester lights up – your fuse is functioning fine. If it does not light up then, replace the fuse with another of the similar amperage and size. In many instances, you can see the break in the metal strip of the fuse.
What are the tail lights and dash lights?
Dash lights, tail lights and parkers are all of one tab, L/H low beam, R/H low beam, L/H High beam and R/H high beam are all on their own copper tabs. (5 tabs in total…..) I posted this a few years ago, have a go yourself before lashing out on a new switch.
What to do if your tail lights are not working?
There is no relay involved. You could try a new fuse (I know you have checked, but just to be sure), and try playing with the combination switch. You may end up needing to pull it apart to give it a clean inside. Checked the trailer plug wiring?
What to do if your dash light does not work?
#Test the dashboard light bulbs. If the fuses are working properly, check for a blown bulb in the dashboard. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, disconnect the battery while working on the dash, remove the faceplate covering your vehicle’s dashboard gauge panel. Remove the screws holding the plate on. Carefully remove the faceplate.
