Do you need a thermostat to run a circulating pump?
If you have installed a circulating pump in your hot water system, you may have also decided that the efficient method to keep it running properly is to also install a thermostat and control.
Why does my hot water pump keep running?
The pump can / will continue to run for a while once the heating has been on. This is so that the system can cool down efficiently. Could be the boiler thermostat is set to high, this is usually a simple dial on the boiler. that can occur if you have a duff thermostat on the boiler.
Is the hot water pump also serving the radiators?
Generally the cylinder thermostat should only call for the pump to be on if needed. Are you sure the pump isn’t also serving the radiators? Yes, I presume the pump does serve the radiators as well but these are off at the moment (off at the wall thermostat) because of the mild temperatures at the moment.
