Is there a problem with the ignition coil igniter?
I replaced the coil and igniter from a wrecking yard. I still have the same problem. I just went through the ignition system and did the resistance checks that were listed. The Chilton’s manual, which sucks, said that there should be no continuity between the negative terminal on the coil and the body of the igniter.
What does the igniter do on a car?
The ignition igniter, also commonly known as the ignition module, is an engine management component found on many road going cars and trucks. It is an ignition system component that is responsible for providing the signal for the ignition coils to fire, so that the spark can be produced for cylinder combustion to occur.
When to troubleshoot pertronix ignitor and coil installation?
IF THE VEHICLE HAS AN INTERMITTENT FAULT, AT CERTAIN TIMES OR REVS, THIS IS GENERALLY AN ENGINE PROBLEM, AND IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE IGNITOR. IF THE TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS BELOW DO NOT HELP, SEEK THE ADVICE OF A QUALIFIED AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRICIAN. Is the Ignitor a “universal” electronic ignition conversion?
Why is my ignition switch not cutting out?
No over-heating coil. And no cut-out when releasing the ignition switch from the ‘start’ position – although this was still considered a second issue. So why? The coil over-heating is generally caused by insufficient dwell period between each spark or insufficient voltage ‘damping’ (like when a condenser breaks down).

What does it mean when your ignitor does not work?
THIS MEANS THAT IF THE IGNITOR HAS A FAULT, IT WILL NOT OPERATE AT ALL.
